COUNTY COUNCIL. <br />FIFTY -NINTH SESSION. <br />COUNCIL CIIAMAER, SANDWICH, June lo, 1878. <br />The Council met pursuant to adjournment from the January session. <br />pre.,ent —The Warden and? llessrs. Plant, Orton, Balfour, Russell, Mickle, <br />Morse, Lamarsh, Trembly, McKee, Cada, McCormick, Dr. Carney, Crimmins, <br />Charland, Strong, McCain, Drouillard, Her, Rocheleau and Morand. <br />The minutes of the last day of the January session were read and upon motion <br />adopted. <br />The Warden addressed the Council relative to matters in connection with bis <br />06re as had engaged his attention during the recess. <br />The Council went into committee of the whole for the purpose of receiving the <br />Rtions fo�= appointment of School Inspector for the South Riding, Mr. <br />The Council resumed. <br />Moved by Iler and seconded by Mr. Orton, that the applications for School <br />lrtspector for the South Riding of Essex be referred to a committee composed of <br />all the Reeves and Deputy Reeves of the South Riding Inspectorate. Carried. <br />Mr. Orton gives notice that he will to- morrow introduce a by -law to levy a <br />rate for roads and bridges. <br />Mr. plant gives notice that he will at the next sittings of this Council move <br />that the Council go into committee of the whole to consider certain resolutions <br />dating to county roads. <br />Mr. Orton gives notice that he will at the next sittings of this Council move <br />for a return of the amount due by municipalities for county rates paid, and also <br />the amount of the county debt to date. <br />Mr. McCain gives notice that he will on Thursday next introduce a by -laws for <br />evrent expenses- <br />Mr. Balfour gives notice that he will to- morrow afternoon introduce a by -law <br />to grant a certain sum in aid of the Essex County Model School. <br />Mr. Balfour gives notice that he will to- morrow introduce a by -law to aid in <br />providing for the expenses of Teachers' Institutes in the North and Soyt.h Ridings <br />of Essex. <br />Mr. Elliott gives notice that he will to- morrow move for the appointment of a <br />mminittee to draft a petition to the Ontario Government for several amendments <br />to the Municipal Act. <br />prtidona were reads and referred to the Committee on Roads and Bridges. <br />Moved by Mr. Orton, seconded by Mr. Rocheleau, that this Council adjourn <br />Until nine o'clock to- morrow tnorning to enable the different committees to meet. <br />(Signed,) J.
