<br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, SANDWICH, January 22, 1878.
<br />pursuant to the Provisions of the Municipal Institutions Act of Ontario, the
<br />members of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex
<br />Agembled in the Council Chamber, the Clerk presiding.
<br />The following Reeves and Deputy Reeves filed certificates from Clerks of the
<br />municipalities they respectively represent, that they had been duly elected, and
<br />nude and subscribed the declaration of office and of qualification :

<br />The Clerk called the Council to order, and asked for nominations for Warden.
<br />Moved by Mr. Rocheleau, and seconded by Mr. Charland, that James C.
<br />Patterson be Warden for the current year.
<br />Moved by Mr. Morse, seconded by Mr. McKee, that John C. Iles be Warden
<br />Im the current year.
<br />Mr. Iler having withdrawn, it was moved by Mr. McKee, and seconded by
<br />Mr. Elliott, that Samuel Blanning be Warden for the current year.
<br />The half hour having elapsed, and Mr. Blanning having also withdrawn, the
<br />Clerk declared Mr. Patterson elected.
<br />The Warden elect having signed the usual declaration of office it was
<br />Moved by Rocheleau, and seconded by Mr. Morand, that the Warden take
<br />the chair. Carried.
<br />The Warden took the chair and thanked the members for the honor they had
<br />Werred upon him.
<br />Mr. Rocheleau gives notice that he will, at the next sittings of this Council,
<br />ame to fill vacancies in the County 1;oard of Public Instruction.
<br />11r- McCain gives notice that he will to- morrow move a resolution instructing
<br />Clerk to advertise for tenders for gaol supplies.
<br />Mr. McCain gives notice that he will to-morrow move for the appointment
<br />Ian auditor for the current year.
<br />Moved by Mr. Lyons, and seconded by Mr. Iler, that a committee, compos-
<br />0dthe Warden, and Messrs. Plant, Rocheleau, White, and the mover and
<br />'ceder, be appointed to strike the standing committees for the current year.
