✓ Be FIT tested for a N95 mask: Mandatory fit testing is to be completed every two years. Please <br />contact Stephanie Malec, Manager of Health and Safety and Staff Development (Ext. 3215) to <br />set up an appointment. <br />✓ Work on the same unit, especially the unit in outbreak to support continuity of care and <br />minimize the spread of the outbreak. <br />Residents <br />All residents symptomatic with an acute respiratory infection will be placed on Droplet/Contact <br />Precautions in addition to Routine Practices as soon as possible after symptoms are identified. <br />Asymptomatic residents should be cared for using Routine Practices and carefully monitored for any <br />change in their symptoms. <br />Residents will be offered antivirals during an influenza outbreak, regardless of immunization status. <br />Residents and/or their Substitute decision-makers/Powers of Attorney for Personal Care will have to <br />agree to use Tamiflu. <br />Residents Families <br />If the Sun Parlor Home experiences an "outbreak" it will be suggested to the families and friends of <br />residents to follow the same protocol as for staff. Residents and families should remain on the <br />resident's unit during an outbreak. When visiting a resident who has symptoms, it is recommended that <br />you visit in the resident's room. <br />Students <br />Students can be on site and are subject to the same protocol as staff. <br />Volunteers <br />If the Sun Parlor Home is in outbreak, volunteers will not be at the Home. <br />For more information on influenza you can access the Windsor -Essex County Health Unit at <br />https://www.wechu.org.
