<br />The Council, met pursuant to adjournment. All the member# presMat
<br />except Messrs. Bell, Montreuil, Thomas and McMullin.
<br />The minutes Of yesterday were read and approved.
<br />The committee appointed in the motion for the erection of a workltoass
<br />or branch gaol for the County of Essen presented their report. Apps'
<br />dix C.
<br />Mr,.Ricbmond moved, seconded by Mr. Langlo►s, That the report d
<br />the special committee appointed on the motion for the erection,of a work•
<br />hou!e or branch gaol for this county, now read, be adopted. Carried.
<br />Mr. Richmond asked leave to withdraw his notice of motion in ngud
<br />to the Municipal Loan Fund, which was g-anted.
<br />:Moved by Mr. Richmond, seconded by Mr. Ray, That the stetnbeni
<br />for this county be requested to use their endeavors to ascertain the send
<br />due to this county from the Seignorial Tenure Compensation fund, sad
<br />procure the same for the county as early as possible ; and that the Cis&
<br />be instructed to forward this resolution to the members. Carried.
<br />Moved by Mr. Bell, seconded by Mr. Shipley, That Messrs, bleGaim
<br />and Thomas be added to the committee on the erection of a workham
<br />or branch gaol for the county of Essex. Carried.
<br />Moved by Mr. Malott, seconded by Mr. Thomas, That the county uditers
<br />be, and they are hereby instructed and required to make a full and thomao
<br />investigation of the accounts of the county treasurer from the time of his ape
<br />pointment up to the present date ; and they are also hereby instraeW,
<br />authorized and required to bring forward the balances of the books of fir
<br />We treasurer, and complete the same on or before the 1st day of Novea-
<br />a ber next; and that their report shall be submitted to a special committee,
<br />consisting of the Warden, Messrs. McMullin, Thomas, Bell and Ruh-
<br />mond, who are herebv invested with full power and authority to W&
<br />4 with the sureties of the treasurer upon the basis of such report. And tkrt
<br />committee shall print the report without delay, lend forward to each nue
<br />cipality twenty copies of said report.

<br />e aocountants be Messrs. John McCrea and R. A. Whyte.

<br />by Mr. Askin, seconded by Mr. Brush, That the treasurer hf,
<br />and he is hereby instructed to take legal measures forthwith for the it
<br />covery of all moneys due the county by the different municipalities for the
<br />year 1866, Carried.
<br />Moved by Mr. Ray, seconded by Mr. Trudell, That Mr. Bloomfield,
<br />and Mr. Montreuil be added to the committee on erection of a worWum
<br />or branch gaol in the county of Essex. Carried,
<br />Mr. Bloomfield presented a petition from Charles E. Casgrain, gaol
<br />surgeon, asking for an increase of salary, which eras referred to G&A
<br />Committee. Appendix C.
