BY-LAWS O'F THE COUNTY OF ESSEX <br /> <br /> And it is further enacted, that the said parcel of land above des- <br />cribed, and to be acquired, be and the same is hereby declared to be <br />intended for county purposes and to be appropriated as a site for a <br />new Gaol and Court House for the County of Essex. <br /> <br />(Signed) J. Law No. 3 <br /> <br />TO INCOI~PORATE THE VILLAGE OF BELLE I~IVEI~, IN <br />THE TOWNSHIPS OF ROCHESTER AND MAIDSTONE, <br />COUNTY OF ESSEX. <br /> <br />Passed November 26th, 1874. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the census returns of the unincorporated Village of <br />Belle River, with its immediate neighborhood, taken under the direc- <br />tion of the Council of the County of Essex, show that the same consists <br />of over seven hundred and fifty inhabitants. <br /> <br /> And whereas the residences of such inhabitants are sufficiently. <br />near to form an incorporated village. <br /> <br /> And whereas one hundred resident freeholders and householders <br />of the said Village of Belle River and neighborhood, of whom one-half <br />are freeholders, by their petition have represented that the said village <br />is the centre of a very considerable trade, and by their petition do pray <br />for the incorporation of the said village and neighborhood as a village. <br /> <br />And whereas it is expedient to grant the prayer of said petition. <br /> <br /> Be it therefore enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corr~oration <br />of the County of Essex, in Council assembled, under and by virtue of <br />the Municipal Institutions Act of Ontario as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. On and after the passing of this by-law, the inhabitants of the <br />said village of Belle River and neighborhood, comprised within the <br />boundaries hereinafter mentioned shah be and they are hereby con- <br />stituted a body corporate apart from the Townships of Rochester and <br />Maidstone, in which the said Village of Belle River and neighborhood <br />are situate under the name of "The Corporation of the Village of <br /> <br /> <br />
