BY-LAWS OF THE COUNTY O'F ESSE? <br /> <br />By. Law No. 2 <br /> <br />TO PI~OVIDE FOR THE PUI~CHASE OF AND ACQUIRING <br />A PIECE OF LAND IN THE TOWN OF SANDWICH FOR <br />COUNTY PUI~POSES. <br /> <br />Passed June 8th, 1854. <br /> <br /> WHEP~EAS, it is necessary to acquire a piece of land adjoining the <br />county property, in the Town of Sandwich, to enlarge the same as a site <br />for a new Gao{ and Court House; and, whereas, the committee of this <br />Council appointed to recommend a site for a new Gaol and Court House <br />have advised the purchase of all that part of Lot Number Seven, on <br />the east side of Bedford Street, in the said Town of Sandwich, being <br />the southerly portion thereof, that is to say, being 40 feet in front upon <br />Bedford Street and running the whole depth of the said Lot No. 7 from <br />Cyrus Dobson, of the Town of Sandwich, innkeeper, at the price or <br />sum hereinafter mentioned. <br /> <br />And, whereas, it is expedient to act upon such reeommendation: <br /> <br /> Be it enacted by the Municipal Council of the County of Essex, in <br />Council assembled, under and by virtue of the "Upper Canada Municipal <br />Corporations Act of 1849", and it is hereby enacted by the authority of <br />the same, that the Warden be, and he is hereby authoried to purchase <br />and acquire from the said Cyrus Dobson, the said part of Lot No. 7, <br />on the east side of Bedford Street, in the said Town of Sandwich, for <br />the sum of one hundred and thirty pounds of lawful money of Canada. <br /> <br /> And it is further enacted, that the Warden be, and he is hereby <br />autho,rized and empowered to sign and deliver, and as occasion may <br />require, to cause the seal of the Corporation to be attached to any <br />agreement, contract or deed, on behalf of the said Municipal Council <br />of the County of Essex, their successors or assigns forever. <br /> <br />°i <br /> <br /> <br />
