Welcome and Chair's Remarks —
L. Bain called meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and welcomed everyone.
L. Bain mentioned how productive the Committee meetings have been and that there
was one more to go next week. What the Executive Committee has seen is great
actions from each Committee and would like to thank the Marketing & Communication
Committee for delivery on their Terms of Reference. Governance will give direction on
Terms of Reference and in turn will assist with keeping on a critical path. L. Bain has
offered to help any committee's if needing assistance to create their Terms of Reference
as it is an important piece to help us keep on track through the process of the
Committee meetings. The Committee meetings are meeting on a timely basis once a
month. L. Bain commends the Human Resource Committee for their critical path. She
feels that where all the work is going to happen is within the committees, the Board is
here to put the rubber stamp on it and it should help us get through the board meetings
more quickly. Also thanked the Chairs for stepping up to Chair the Committees. When
all the Terms of Reference for committees are completed and submitted they will be
circulated to the Board.
W. Strong spoke about his concerns with communication between the Board and
Committees and would like to bring this out as helpful to the process. He is concerned
about when and how decisions are made and how tending to key items will be handled.
He also mentioned that the Human Resource Committee discussed key items and he is
not sure as to where these action items stand to date. He has concerns about TWEPI's
Policy and Procedures, he doesn't know where it stands at this time and not sure or
understands what authority the committee's have.
S. Sechopoulos responded mentioning that the Executive Committee had just met on
Monday and that the Executive feels the Committees are on the right path and if
Committee Chair's feel there is a need to have an emergency meeting to put in a request
to L. Bain. S. Sechopoulos also mentioned that the Executive did review all the motions
from the Committees.
L. Bain mentioned that the executive member that sits on each Committee will
communicate between the Board and Committees.
S. Sechopoulus asked W. Strong if there was something in particular that he was
concerned about. W. Strong asked what authority that the Committees have.
1
