ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD

SPRING TOUR

9:30 a.m., Saturday,
April 25, 1998

Members Present: Mr. Varga, Mrs. Fuerth, Messrs. Chaplin, Davison,
DiMenna and Warden O'Neil
Chief Librarian George, Manager of Branches
Thompson

Ail branches north of County Road 8 were visited: LaSalle,
Tecumseh, St. Clair Beach, Emeryville, Stoney Point, Comber and
Woodslee.

The Board members met the staff at each Library, discussed services
and made a brief assessment of the physical facilities.

At LaSalle, the Board commended the Town on their new library
facility.

Board members expressed disappointment in the appearance of the
exterior painting at the Tecumseh Library and several exterior
deficiencies at the Woodslee Library. The Secretary was asked to
write to the Municipalities to have these attended to.

On their way through Belle River, the Board dropped into the
Library so that all members could view the facility first hand
in view of the meeting scheduled with representatives of the
Township of Lakeshore later in the week.

Chairperson Varga and Mr. Chaplin generously saved the Board the
rental fee for a van by supplying their own vehicles for the tour.

Chairperson Varga declared the meeting to be of extraordinary
length and set the per diem at one and a half the regular rate.

Ail of which is respectfully submitted.

Mr. William Varga, Chairperson
