ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD

Sub Committee Meeting May 30, 1996

Members Present: Mr. Innes, Mr. Varga, Mrs. Haugh, Mr. Laird

Mr. Paul De Sadeleer, Director, Essex County
Board of Education at 10:30 a.m.

Mr. Ron Reddam, Director, Essex County Roman
Catholic Separate School Board at 11:30 a.m.

Members of the Sub Committee discussed the willingness of the two
Boards to investigate the delivery of library services in the
County with both Directors.

Both Directors indicated that they were open minded on the subject
and said their staff would participate in a working group of
operations staff.

Mr. Reddam indicated the Separate Board would likely send one
representative and Mr. De Sadeleer indicated that probably three
people, one from the elementary level, one from the secondary and
another from planning would attend such meetings. The Library
Board would also have three, the Branch Manager, the Technical
Services Manager and the Chief Librarian.

The mandate of the working group would be to examine library
services now and in the future. No option should be unexplored.

The Sub Committee expressed the hope that the working group could
hold their first meeting before the end of June, recognizing that
some of the participants would not be available during the summer.

Ail of which is respectfully submitted,

Mr Paul , ' ee Chair
