804 JUNE REGULAR mwioN, 1956 <br />Report of the Essex County Library Co-operative <br />The Warden and Members of Essex County CounciL <br />Gentlemen: <br />The County Library Board are very proud of the seeopitiaa <br />which this library has recently received both locally and in the p v. <br />vineial and national fields of library service The Windmw Daily Star <br />carried an excellent article on the library in a recent issue whisk <br />created wide - spread comment. Mrs McCormick was invited to speet <br />to the librarians of Huron County at Goderich on May till and way <br />chairman of the committee doing the preliminary wort towards e[iioal <br />request of increased government grants for county libraries In jou <br />Mrs. McCormick was elected chairman of the County and 6®na11 Libra <br />ries Section of the Ontario Library Association which poakion gives let <br />a place on the executive of the O J&A. In the past month oar reeaw <br />mendation of the executive secretary of the Canadian Library Asp <br />ciatwn, Mrs. McCormick has written and had accepted for publicatim <br />in the Encyclopedia of Canada, an article on the Rainy Rivet district. <br />As one of the leading county libraries in the province we expect to <br />have four county librarians visit us during the summer that tMy MW <br />we our unit in operation and use some of the ideas which we have <br />developed within this county. We are hoping that the County Lihrwy <br />Institute, sponsored by the Department of Education will be held in <br />E;seex County this year as this will give us an opportunity to display <br />our progressive and growing library to all count hbs maw and hood <br />members from Ontario. <br />There is unprecedented building in the schools of Ifaers Cou* <br />and we have enrollment for 80 extra clasaroom,s is September, IN& <br />This means that we must have 600 additional books is order to suppb <br />these classrooms.
