COUNTY C01JNC!I�. <br />SIXTY -THIRD SESSION. <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER, June 21, 1380. <br />The Council met pursuant to adjournment from the January session. The <br />A was called. All the members present except Messrs. Morse and Mickle. <br />The minutes of the last day of the January session were read, and on motion <br />dMr. Morgan adopted. <br />Mr. Balfour gives notice that he will, at the next sittings of the council, intro- <br />duce a by -law to provide for the current expenses of the county for the year. <br />Mr. Plant gives notice that he will, to- morrow introduce a by -law, to provide <br />forthe payment of qualified school teachers and school inspectors. <br />Mr. Cada gives notice that he will, to- morrow, introduce a by -lave to levy a <br />rate for roads and bridges for the current year. <br />Mr. Lafferty gives notice that he will, at the next sittings of this council, <br />move for a return of the amount due by municipalities for county rates. <br />Moved by Mr. Morgan, seconded by Mr. Lamarsh, that Mr. Balfour be re- <br />appointed on the various committees on which his name appears. Carried. <br />Mr. Morgan gives notice that he will, to- morrow, move for the appointment of <br />a committee to draft a petition to the Ontario Le;islatury for certain amend- <br />ments to the Assessment Act. <br />Mr. W. J. McKee gives notice that he will, to- morrow, introduce a by -law to <br />put a certain sum in aid of the Essex County Model School. <br />Mr. W. J. McKee gives notice, that he will, to- morrow, introduce a by -law <br />to aid in providing for the expenses of Teacher's Institutes in the North and <br />South Ridings of Essex. <br />Mr. Morgan gives notice that he will, to- morrow, move for the appointment <br />Of a committee to draft a petition to the Dominion Government for certain <br />changes or amendments to the Consolidated Railway Act, so as to assimilate <br />it with the Ontario Railway Act. <br />The report of the Finance Committee at the last January session was react. <br />*oved by Mr. Balfour, seconded by Mr. Wright, that tite report of the Fi- <br />nance Committee presented at the January session, anti i narked Appendix (, <br />to the published minutes of said session, be adopted by this council with the <br />exception of the last clause which shall be expunged. Carried. <br />A communication was read from the Corresponding Sscretary of St. lean <br />Baptiste Society, of Amherstburg, inviting the members of the council to attend <br />a pit -nic to be given by said society on 'Thursday, the 24th inst. <br />Moved by Mr. Wilkinson, seconded by Mr. Wright, that the invitation of 11. <br />W. Deare, to attend the St. Jean Baptiste Society's celebration at Amherst - <br />burg, be accepted. <br />Moved in amendment by Mr. Russell, seconded by Mr. Lamarsh, that the <br />communication of H. W. Deare be laid over until to- morrow. <br />A vote was taken on the amendment and carried. <br />The yeas and nays being called for %were as follows : = <br />Year— Messrs. Russell, Lamarsh, Smart, Morban, Buuteiller, Boisniier, <br />Morand, Blanning, Patterson, Strong;, Plant, Fox, Dunstan, James McKee <br />and Lafferty -15. <br />Nays — Messrs. Cada, Trembly, Jolie, Desjardin, Richmond, Wilkinson <br />Wright, Balfour and W. J. McKee —y. ' <br />Moved by Mr. Dunstan, seconded by Mr. Fox, that the Warden cause the <br />seats of this council to be adjusted to the diferent members by ballot. Lost. <br />Moved in amendment by Mr. Richmond, seconded by Nlr. NN7ilkinson, that <br />the members of this council keep the seats as they occupy them. Carried. <br />Mr. Plant gives notice that he will, to- morrow, move that a special conuntt- <br />tee be appointed to consider and revise the standing rules of this council. <br />Moved by Mr. Balfour, seconded by N1 r.
