White, Plant, Iler, Elliott, Orton, Gaboury, <br />Lyons, Lamarsh, Carney, Mickie, McGee, Russell, More, Mullins, Blanning, Brett <br />and McCain. <br />The Warden called the Council to order, and stated that he lied summoned the <br />members to take into consideration the assessment made upon the county by the <br />township of Rochester for certain drainage works <br />The report of Mr. McDonald, P. L. 3., to the Council of ltochenter, setting forth <br />the details of his survey of the river R.uscom for drainage purposes, and his appor- <br />tionment of the cost thereof was read, as follows: <br />To the Reeve and Council of the Township of Rochester. <br />GFMTLZWW In compliance with instructions received from the clerk of your <br />municipality requesting me to survey the River Rusc om Drain, and make estimate and <br />mo;emment for the constru. tion thereof, I beg to say that I made mid survey, cam. <br />timate and assessment, and reI►ort thereon as follows : <br />I took a chain. of levels in the River Rascom from the Gostield town line w the <br />Ispnt where it crosses the sixth concession line in Rochester, a distatx:e of seven and <br />three quarter miles nearly. <br />in that distance I find a fall of thirty. feet three inches, that is in the bottom of <br />the atresm, and from the natural surfac* .at the. town pine the tail will be thirty-two <br />feet three inches. <br />I then surveyed the east branch of the Ruseons trop► the Merave fora line to its <br />junction with the main streams at the Malden Road, a distance of two smiles sad a <br />half nearly, and find a fall of twelve feet in maid distance. <br />The east. bmaaeb crosses the line of the 6th and 7th concessions six timer, come. <br />quently I propose to cut the drain straight on the wo «t bide of the road allowance ss <br />far north as the Malden Road, thence west on the south side of the Malden Road to <br />the, main stream, making the distance much shorter than it would be by follow_ <br />fog the tortuous windings of the stream, besides, the road will be made fire whole <br />length of the earl braouh. <br />The estimated cost for c;onAruoting a draiu twelve feet bottom from the 000. <br />livid town line to the Malden Road, and twenty fret bottom from the Malden >I<oad � <br />W the mouth, together with the east branch having an eight Not bottom throw_ <br />out, with Cuttings 68 shown on the deetioua accompanying this report, is $252094, 1 Ad <br />
