COUNTY COUNCIL. <br />FIFTY -SIXTH SESSION. <br />COUNCIL CttAtrsne, January 33d, 1877. <br />Pursuant to the Provisions of the Municipal Institutions Act of Ontario, the mem. <br />berg of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex assembled <br />in the Council Chamber, the Clerk presiding. <br />The following Reeves and Deputy Reeves filed certificates from Clerks of the <br />municipalities they respectively represent, that they had been dilly elected, and made <br />and subscribed the declaration of otiice and of qualification, viz <br />Amherstburg, Reeve, Samuel McGee; Deputy Reeve, John Brett. Anderdon, <br />Reeve, Thos. B. White. Colchester, Iteeve, John C. Iler ; Deputy Reeve, Alanson <br />Elliott. Gosfield, Reeve, Wm. McCain; Deputy Reeve, Zenas Orton. Malden, Reeve, <br />Alex. Mickle. Mersea, Reeve, George A. Morse; Deputy Reeve, Robert Lamarsh. <br />Maidstone, Reeve. Thos. Plant; Deputy Reeve, John Cada. Sandwich East , <br />Wm. Lyons; Deputy Reeve, Henry Morand. Sandwich West, Reeve, Denis Roheleau. <br />Sandwich Town, Reeve, James, McKee. Rochester, Reeve, John Mullins. Tilbury <br />West, Reeve, Peter Trembly; Deputy Reeve, E. Rondot. Windsor, peeve, J. C. <br />Patterson; Deputy Reeves, S. Blanning and Dr. Carney. Belle River, Reeve, Dr. <br />Gaboury. Leamington, Reeve, George Russell. <br />The Clerk called the Council to order, and asked fer nominations fet Warden. <br />Moved by Mr. Plant and seconded by Mr. Morse, that James McKee be Warden for <br />the present year. <br />Moved by Mr. Lyons and seconded lily Mr. Blanning, that J. C. Patterson be the <br />Warden for the current year. <br />There being no more nominations, and the half hour having elapsed, a vote was . <br />taken on Mr. Plant's motion, with the following result :– YsAS— Messrs. Russell, <br />Mickle, Morse, Lamarsh, Plant, McKee, Brett, McGee, McCain, Orton, Elliott and <br />Iler -12. NAYS— Messrs. Trembly, Gaboury, Cad&, Morand, Carney, Blanning, <br />White, Lyons, Mullins, Rocheleau, Rondot and Patterson -12. . <br />The votes being a tie, Mr. Patterson representing the highest assessed municipality, <br />gave his casting vote for -Mr. McKee. <br />The Clerk then declared Mr. McKee elected. <br />The Warden elect having signed the declaration *f office, it was moved by Mr, Tier <br />and seconded by Mr. Patterson, that the Warden take the chak. Carried. <br />The Warden took the chair, and thanked the members for the honor they had <br />conferred upon him. <br />Mr. McCain gives notice that he will to -morrow move for the appointment of an <br />auditor for the current year. <br />Mr. McCain gives notice that he will to- mmorrow move a resolution instructing the <br />Clerk to advertise for tenders for gaol supplies. <br />Mr. Patterson gives notice that at the next sittings of this Council, he will move <br />for the appointment of examiners to fill `ancies in the County Board of Public <br />Instruction. <br />Mr. Blanning gives notice that, at the next sittings of this Council, he will move <br />for the appointment of a High School Trustee for the County High School Zoard. <br />Mr. Orton gives notice that he will to- morrow move for the appointment of Road <br />Commissioners in room and stead of those members who have ceased to be members <br />Of this Council. <br />Mr. Plant gives notice that he will to- morrow move for the appointment of a <br />Special Committee to inquire into the sutliciency of the sureties of the County <br />Treasurer, and to report thereon as required uy Section 195 of an Act respecting the <br />Municipal institutions of Ontario. <br />Moved by MIL Iler and seconded by Mr. Elliott, that & Committee composed of <br />the Warden and Messrs. Patterson, McCain, Plant, and the mover, be appointed to <br />strike the standing committees. Carded.
