APPENDIX <br />OF THE <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE TWENTY -SIXTH SESSION <br />OF THE <br />MTTNICIPAL COUNCIL <br />0 <br />OF THE <br />COUNTY OF ESSEX. <br />REPORTS. <br />COtTNTY TREASURER'S REPORT. <br />1b the Muntci ?d Couned of the County of ,Essex. <br />The County Treasurer- begs leave to report: That be submits here. <br />with the ucual General Abstract of Accounts for the past year, showing a <br />balance on band of $304 01cts. which has been carried to the credit of <br />the County. <br />The retention by a number of the Municipalities of their portion of <br />the County Rates has caused a good deal of ineosvenienee, inasmuch as the <br />Treasurer has been unable at times to meet the liabilities of the County, <br />many of which consisted of orders from Commissioners for the improvement <br />of Roads and Brides, and which should bare been net on presentation. <br />The setention of the time for the paying is of the Coasty Rates, by the <br />Township Treasurers, to the lot March, has doubtless caused this embati <br />nssment in the a1}airs of the County, and it might be advisable for the <br />- Council to consider the propriety of malting some change in the By..IAw <br />which regulates this matter. <br />The Munic'palities of Anderdon, GosSeld, Mersea, R.eeheshr, Sand. <br />vetch East and West, Amhorstbarg, Windsor, and the Tows of Sandwich <br />are indebted. to the County in the aggregated sups of $4836 22jets, and <br />to the Municipalities of Colchester Maidstone, Morse& and Tilbury Want <br />the County is owing the sum of $1325 634th6 which the Treaesrer has <br />at press" no means of liquidatiog, as of the balance now oa hand a Iarge <br />portion consists of money paid in fer the yedemptm of Irods SOW last <br />March for taxes. <br />
