ADJUSTMENT i lt s about our region's future, our success resident's economic well-being! Serviced industrial land has become scarce in the greater Windsor area. Since the mid- 1990's, the industrial sector has absorbed as much as 100 acres of per year, in Windsor/Essex. There are now no large parcels of serviced industrial land within which makes it very difficult for our region to attract the . ~ . . kind .of industrial development we ..need to create jobs and growth. But just about jobs factories... Industrial development brings residential growth and commercial investment, new parks and play-grounds schools and a growing variety of stores and services. New, managed growth brings upgraded and new services, infrastructure, investment and opportunity. In short, industrial development is essential to our area's ongoing growth, in ways that directly affect every i family and every individual resident's lifestyle. The County of Essex, Town of Tecumseh and the City of Windsor, recognize the need for cooperative solutions. Recent talks have produced a proposed municipal boundary adjustment that will help ensure the future prosperity of the entire region. Annexation benefits every local municipality The potential benefits will accrue to the entire region, not iust the City of Windsor. Residents of the County already understand the importance of the employment opportunities in Windsor. In late 2001, a provincial study showed that 32,500 residents of Essex County worked in Windsor, drawing a net annual payroll of $1 billion. In September 2002, Statistics Canada reported that Windsor/Essex is growing at a rate second only to the Greater Toronto Area. If this investment continues, we will see more "ripple" effects in the commercial and residential development sectors. Again, this means jobs for all of us. It's all about you and your family's prosperity If approved by all three municipal councils and supported by the Province of Ontario, the boundary adjustment will ensure an available supply of industrial land and secure our region's future for years to come. This boundary, adjustment is about our region's future and our region's success. More importantly, it's about improving opportunity and access to employment and economic well-being.
