MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE <br />WINDSOR-ESSEX COUNTY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> HELD TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2000 AT 4:00 PM <br /> AT CABOTO CLUB, 2175 TECUMSEH RD. EAST, WINDSOR <br /> <br />There were present: P. Soulliere (Chair), R. Henly, P. Bondy, H. Brudner, T. Burton, <br />T. DiBartolomeo, A. Halberstadt, B. Harvey, P. Hayes, K. Lewenza, M. Solcz, <br />J. St. Aubin, F. Valentinis, B. Wood and E, Prior <br /> <br />1. DISCLOSURES OF INTEREST - None <br /> <br />MINUTES - Roy Henly stated that a change has occurred with regard to the schedule for <br />the Twin Cities Millennium visit. On Tuesday, June 27th the group will be touring Ford <br />Windsor Engine Plant as Chrysler will be closed due to shutdown. <br /> It was moved by R. Henly, seconded by H. Brudner and carried that the <br /> Minutes of the April 25, 2000 Board of Directors Meeting be adopted as <br /> circulated. <br /> <br />BUSINESS ARISING from April 25th Minutes <br />Re Item 5(c) Water Supply to the County - Paul reported that we contacted Denton <br />Hoffman, General Manager of the Ontario Greenhouse and Vegetable Growers who <br />appreciated the Commission trying to bring clarity to the issue. We will continue <br />discussions with County tomato and greenhouse producers. <br /> <br />John St. Aubin discussed the rate increase (subject to approval) on local distribution costs <br />from EnWin based on several items including rate of return, dividends allowable, the <br />budget itself. Areas of concern are the impact on small, medium and large businesses, <br />also large consumer use versus residential. An intervention hearing will be held in <br />Toronto to discuss. WECDC will formally intervene according to regulations. <br /> <br />It was moved by K. Lewenza, seconded by H. Brudner and carried that WECDC <br />intervene to determine what the impacf will be on small, medium and large businesses. <br />J. St. Aubin abstained from this vote. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL REPORT <br />a) Financial Statement - 1~t quarter - There was a suggestion to accrue expected revenue <br /> quarterly. We can check with our auditors on procedure. <br /> It was moved by R. Henly, seconded by T. Burton and carried that the first <br /> quarter financial statement be accepted as presented. <br /> <br />b) County of Essex 2000 Financial Commitment should be received in mid-June. <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION <br />a) OAS Update - Paul reported that Fred Sorrel is handling the Showcase on the <br />waterfront. With regard to the businesses in the Radisson Mall and vicinity, Elaine Prior <br />will be attending a meeting tonight with the Dept. of Foreign Affairs and the RCMP to <br /> <br /> <br />
