Whereas it is deemed advisable to grant a sum of two thousand dollars in aid of the Essex Volunteers, Be it therefore enacted by the corporation of the County of Essex, in Council assembled, That the said sum of two thousand dollars be raised, levied and col- lected upon the whole rateable property in the County of Essex, in addition to all other rates and assessments for and during the present year, for the purpose mentioned in the preamble of this By -law. Be it further enacted, that the said sum of two thousand dollars shall be divided amongst the several Volunteers wbo have been called out, (or who may be called out during the present year,) on actual service. And be it further enacted, that the Warden, and Messrs.
