<br />A By.dalo to provide for the Current .Expenses of the Co►nttg of psaeg for
<br />the year 1877.
<br />Passed June 22, 1877.
<br />whereas, it is necessary to Provide the sum of $16,652 to defray the expenses of
<br />the Count of Essex, according to the estimate of the Finance Committee;
<br />And whereas, for the purpose of raising the said sum of 519,653, it will require a
<br />rate of 21 mills in the dollar upon all rateable property in the said county of xwz;
<br />Be it tberefore enacted by the corporation of the county of Essex, in council W
<br />sembled, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, that there shall be
<br />raised, levied and collected a rate of 2} mills in the dollar upon all rateable pre}ergr
<br />in the said county of Essex, for the purpose of raising the raid sum of $16,652, in
<br />addition to till other rates and assessments for and during the present year, for the
<br />general expense of the current year.
<br />And be it further enacted that the sum of one dollar and fifty cents per day be paid
<br />to each and every Grand and Petit Juror for each day's attendance at any Court of
<br />Assise, Nisi I rips and Genemral necessarily travelled Uy such personCftom,hri pljM.e
<br />further Sum of ten cents per
<br />of residence to the Corot House of the said county, according to t5e pay list to W
<br />kept by the Sheriff of the said county.
<br />And be it also enacted that the Sheriff of Ike said county shall be entitled to re.
<br />ceive the following sums, and no more, for th ,services performed by him under this
<br />by -lair, namely; For every pay list, the sum of one dollar; for checking the rase,
<br />twenty -five cents, and for certifying and returning the same to the Treasurer of the
<br />said county, the sum of one dollar.
<br />And be it further enacted that all sums payable under the third and fourth sections
<br />of this by -law shall be paid by the Treasurer of the county upon the certified pay list
<br />of the Sheriff.
<br />And be it further enacted that the burthen of the several assessments above re-
<br />quired, shall be apportioned amongst and borne bi• the several municipalities in the
<br />proportion or shares hereafter mentioned, and the several sums set opposite to the
<br />names of each municipality in the schedule hereunder written, which schedule rball
<br />form part of this by -law, shall be raised, levied and collected thereupon the whole
<br />rateable property in each respectively, for the several rates for which they are de-
<br />signed, and shall be paid over int3 the hands of the county 'Treasurer in the present
<br />year, and to be by him applied to the several purposes mentioned in this by -law.
