<br />A By lnto to provide and lery thr sum of $100 tomards the Institutes of
<br />Teachers in the North, and Srmth Itidinys of the County of Esaex.

<br />Wllerem, it Is necessary and expedient to provide and levy the sum of one hun-
<br />dred dollars towards the Institutes of Teachers in the North and South Ridings of
<br />the county of Essex:
<br />lie it therefore enacted by the council of the corporation of the county of Essex,
<br />under and by virtue of the Public School Act of the Province of Ontario, that the
<br />sum of one hundred dollars be paid towards the Institutes of Teachers in the North
<br />and South Ridings of the county of Essex for the current year, in manner following,
<br />that is to say : Fifty dollars to the North Riding and the same sum to the South
<br />Biding.
<br />And be it further enacted that the said sums be paid to the inspectors of schools
<br />for the said Ridings, and the warden is hereby authorized to sign warrants upon the
<br />treasurer of the said county for the payment of the same.

<br />BY -LAW N0. 231.
<br />A Bylaw to raise certain monies for the' Improzement, of certain .Roads
<br />and Bridges: in the County of Essex.
<br />Passed June 22d, 2877.
<br />Whereas, it is expedient to raise monies for the improvement of certain roads and
<br />bridges in the county of Essex :
<br />Be it therefore.enacted by the council of the corporation of the county of Essex,
<br />in Council assembled, and it is bereby enacted.uuder the authority of the same, and
<br />under and by virtue of the Municipal Institutions Act of Ontario, that there shall be
<br />levied and collected the sum .of eleven thousand one jiundred dollars upon the whole
<br />rateable property in the county of Essex, in addition to all other rates and &&sew
<br />nlenta imposed, for the improvement of certain, roads and ,bridges in the county of
<br />Foex.
<br />Be it further enacted that the said sum of eleven thousand one hundred dollars, to
<br />be raised, levied and collected as aforesaid, shall be expended as set forth in the
<br />schedule hereunder written, which schedule ¢hall, be and form part of this by -law.
<br />Be it further enacted that the whole w9K4 to be done and performed as aforesaid,
<br />sball be given out by contrAc:t.by public competition, or in such other manner as to
<br />the I:ummissianers duly appointed to superintend the same may seem best, on or be-
<br />foe the first fty of September next ; and should Any one of the said commissioners
<br />ftii to be present at the time appointed for the letting of the work, then any one of
<br />the commissionera may proceed to the letting of the same,
<br />Be it further enacted that all contracts entered into for the performance of the work
<br />to be done under the provisions of this by -law, shutll be signed by t1w coaamissioner
<br />I eommiasionerts letting the Sumo on behalf of thu county corporation, and that all
<br />+mus shall be paid by the treaauror of the county upon a certificate tmiug produced
<br />fu,n, the said commissioucr or commianionerss letting the same, of the work loving
<br />61" performed according to contract.
