BY -LAWS OF THli COUNTY OF 2988x. 7 III. Be it further enacted that the first election of Reeve and Councillors for the said Village of Leamington shall be held at the town hall in the said village at noon on the last Monday of the month of December, 1875. IV. And be it further enacted that John M'R Selkirk, of Leam. ington, shall be and is hereby appointed Returning Officer to hold the first election of Reeve and Councillors for the said Village of Leamington, and he shall give one week's written notice thereof, posted up in at least three conspicuous places in the said village, and he shall preside at the nomination of such Reeve and Councillors, or in case of his absence the electors present shall choose from among j themselves a chairman, who shall have all the powers of a Returning Officer, and the polling for the said election shall be held on the same day of the week in the week following the said nomination, and the i duties of the Returning Officer shall be those prescribed by law with i i respect to incorporated villages. ! V. The Township Clerk of the Township of Mereea shall fern- ; ish to the Returning Officer, upon demand made by him for the same, ! a certified copy of so much of the last revised assessment rolls of the i said township as may be required to ascertain the persons entitled to vote at such first election, or with the Collector's rolls, documents, writing or statement that may be required, which copies shall be ver. ified on oath, or as now required by law, and the expenses of fmrn- ishing the same shall be borne and paid by the Village Council to the parties entitled thereto. VI. The several persons who shall be elected or appointed under i this by -law shall take the same oaths of office and of qualification as are now prescribed by law. U. In all other respects the said several persons appointed under this by -law shall comply with the provisions of the Municipal Institutitions Act of Ontario respecting incorporated villages.
