BY -LAWS OF THli COUNTY OF 2988x. 7 <br />III. Be it further enacted that the first election of Reeve and <br />Councillors for the said Village of Leamington shall be held at the <br />town hall in the said village at noon on the last Monday of the month <br />of December, 1875. <br />IV. And be it further enacted that John M'R Selkirk, of Leam. <br />ington, shall be and is hereby appointed Returning Officer to hold <br />the first election of Reeve and Councillors for the said Village of <br />Leamington, and he shall give one week's written notice thereof, <br />posted up in at least three conspicuous places in the said village, and <br />he shall preside at the nomination of such Reeve and Councillors, or <br />in case of his absence the electors present shall choose from among <br />j themselves a chairman, who shall have all the powers of a Returning <br />Officer, and the polling for the said election shall be held on the same <br />day of the week in the week following the said nomination, and the i <br />duties of the Returning Officer shall be those prescribed by law with i <br />i respect to incorporated villages. <br />! V. The Township Clerk of the Township of Mereea shall fern- <br />; ish to the Returning Officer, upon demand made by him for the same, <br />! a certified copy of so much of the last revised assessment rolls of the <br />i said township as may be required to ascertain the persons entitled to <br />vote at such first election, or with the Collector's rolls, documents, <br />writing or statement that may be required, which copies shall be ver. <br />ified on oath, or as now required by law, and the expenses of fmrn- <br />ishing the same shall be borne and paid by the Village Council to the <br />parties entitled thereto. <br />VI. The several persons who shall be elected or appointed under <br />i this by -law shall take the same oaths of office and of qualification as <br />are now prescribed by law. <br />U.
