16 <br />NUMBER X. <br />• � i <br />To provide for the Payment of Grind and Petit Jurors. <br />[PASSED 18th August, A. D., 1884. <br />WHEREAS it is expedient- to provide the sum of three hundred and <br />forty -two pounds for the payment of Grand and Petit Jurors, attending <br />the Courts of Assize, Nisi Prius, the General Quarter Sessions of tie <br />Peace, and the County Court; and whereas it will require a rate of <br />one - eighth of a penny in the pound to be raised, levied and collected: <br />Be it therefore enacted by the Municipal Council of the County of <br />Essex in Council assembled, by virtue of and under "The Upper Canada <br />Municipal Corporations Act of 1849," that the sum of five shillinp <br />per diem be paid to each and every Grand Juror and each and every <br />Petit Juror, for each day's actual attendance at any of the Courts, the <br />Court of Assize, Nisi Prins, the General Quarter Sessions of the Pews <br />and the County Court in and for the said County; and the farther am <br />of sixpence per mile for every mile necessarily travelled by each Jam <br />from his place of residence to the Court House of the said County, as <br />cording to the pay lists to be kept by the Sheriff of the said County. <br />II. Be it further enacted, That the Sheriff of the said County shall bs <br />entitled to receive the following sums, and no more, for his ser►iep <br />'under this By -Law, namely, for every pay list, the sum of one sWiq <br />and three- pence, and for checking the same per diem, the am of Im <br />shillings; and for certifying and returning to the Treasurer of the said <br />County, the acid pay Bela, the sum of one shilling and threebpam <br />each. <br />III. And be it further enacted that all sums payable under this By. <br />Law shall be paid by the County Treasurer, upon the certiSed pay lw <br />of the Bheril£ <br />IV. And be it further snact4 That for the purpose of creating • <br />fund for the payment of the said Juror* there shall be rased, levied asd <br />e011s0ted, upon the whole nteible property in the said County of Ems, <br />
