Allen Heimann Dr. Gary Kirk Ms. Liz Haugh Ms. Nancy Whited Ms. Sharon Kelly Ms. Rosanne St. Denis (Recorder) Guests: Ms. Jackie Shach(Consultant, Delta Consulting Group) Dr. Brent Moloughney(Consultant, BWM Health Consultants Inc.) 1.0 The meeting was formally called to order at 9:14 a.m. by the Chair, Mr. Gary McNamara. Strategic planning consultants Dr. Brent Moloughney and Ms. Jackie Schach were introduced. Dr. Kirk announced that the strategic plan to be reviewed was the Health Unit's first ever. He thanked everyone for attending the meeting, staff,the Board, and the Steering Committee. The Consultants highlighted their relative backgrounds. It was raised that this was a group process with the Steering Committee, staff,the Board/key informants from the community-external agencies providing input. Ms. Schach provided a PowerPoint presentation to the Board on the draft Health Unit strategic plan for 2012-2017. The legislative framework was discussed. It was raised that Ontario has clear program standards, the Ontario Public health Standards (OPHS)that build in things health units must do yet provides flexibility for making decisions around local services. The OPHS has a focus on the foundational standards—what needs to be in place in a health unit to perform in an optimal way.
