ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD

FALL TOUR

9:30 a.m., Saturday,
October 27, 2007

Members Present: Mr. Varga, MS.Gunning, Ms.McLean, Messrs.Bailey,
Dowie, Dufour and Warden Santos
Chief Librarian George and Manager of Branches
Thompson

The six branch libraries north of County Road 8 were visited: the
one in LaSalle (William (Bill) Varga Library), the one in Tecumseh
(Cada Municipal Library) and the four in Lakeshore: Lakeshore,
Stoney Point, Comber and "Woodslee.

The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet some of the
staff at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an
overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the three
municipalities in the northern part of the County.

At Tecumseh, there was considerable discussion regarding the
condition of the roof, which is the responsibility of the
Municipality. There have been some leaks repaired and the Town had
the roof inspected and is now awaiting the results.

At Lakeshore, the Board was met by Councillor Lalonde of the
Lakeshore Council who presented a petition supporting the
continuation of the Lakeshore Branch and the current hours of
operation. Councillor Lalonde also questioned the Board's policy in
regard to charges for damaged material.

At Stoney Point, the pot holes and muddiness of the
driveway/parking area was noted. It is the Municipality's
responsibility to maintain this and more gravel is needed.

All of which is respectfully submitted.

Mr. William Varga, Chair
