<br />ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD <br /> <br />SPRING TOUR <br /> <br />9:30 a.m., Saturday, <br />May 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Members Present: Mr. Varga, Mr. Leardi, Mr. McDermott, Mr. O'Neil <br />and Ms. Robinson <br />Chief Librarian George and Manager of Branches Thompson <br /> <br />The Board toured the following branches south of County Road 8: <br />the three in the Town of Essex - McGregor, Harrow and Essex, the <br />three in the Town of Kingsville - Cottam, Ruthven and Kingsville, <br />and those in the Town of Amherstburg and the Municipali ty of <br />Leamington . . <br /> <br />The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet <br />staff at their libraries, examine the facilities <br />overview of the operations of the branch libraries <br />municipalities in the southern part of the County. <br /> <br />some of the <br />and get an <br />in the four <br /> <br />At the McGregor Library, there was a brief discussion of the types <br />and costs of facilities housing the branch libraries. <br /> <br />At the Amherstburg Library, the parking area was commented on and <br />Board members met staff, Jean Hunt and Christine Reichert. <br /> <br />At the Harrow Library, the immediate need for a new roof to stop <br />the water infiltration into the Library was mentioned and Board <br />members met staff member, Bree Tole. <br /> <br />At the Kingsville Library, problems with the heating system were <br />mentioned by staff members Renee Derbyshire and Gisele Levesque. <br />The Board was met by Kingsville Councillor, Tamara stomp who <br />accompanied the Board on the rest of their tour. <br /> <br />At the Ruthven Library, the Board reviewed the notes about the <br />building left by staff member Kate Campeau. <br /> <br />At the Leamington Library the new shelving arrangement for children <br />was pointed out. Board members were given a tour by staff member <br />Elaine Buschman while Mary Mastronardi assisted the public. <br /> <br />At the Cottam Library, Darlene Baker welcomed the Board. Concerns <br />about the deterioration in the cement pad at the entrance were <br />expressed. <br /> <br />At the Essex Library, Judy Ward and Nancy Brown were present. The <br />Board members noted that this facility offered a much larger <br />collection of materials, more workstations, and a program room <br />compared to the previous Carnegie library location. Borrowing had <br />gone up 53% since the library had moved into the new premises. <br />
