ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD <br /> <br /> FALL TOUR <br /> <br /> 9:30 a.m., Saturday, <br /> October 30, 2004 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Varga, Mr. McDermott, Ms. McLean, Mr.O'Neil <br />and Ms. Robinson <br />Chief Librarian George and Manager of Branches <br />Thompson <br /> <br />The six branch libraries north of County Road 8 were visited: the <br />one in LaSalle (William (Bill) Varga Library), the one in Tecumseh <br />(Cada Municipal Library) and the four in Lakeshore: Lakeshore, <br />Stoney Point, Comber and Woodslee. <br /> <br />The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet some of the <br />staff at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an <br />overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the three <br />municipalities in the northern part of the County. <br /> <br />At LaSalle, Board members were joined by Councillor Rick Meloche <br />from the Town of Essex. Mr. George explained the features of the <br />LaSalle Library that he hoped would be incorporated in the <br />relocated Essex Library. <br /> <br />At Tecumseh, .a few deficiencies were noted in the facilities and <br />Mr. George was asked to make the Town of Tecumseh aware of them. <br /> <br />At Lakeshore, Mr. George expressed the hope that the problems with <br />the leaking roof had finally been remedied. <br /> <br />At Stoney Point, the Town of Lakeshore was commended for the <br />installation of the sidewalk to the entrance of the Library. <br /> <br />At Comber, Board members were told how the Town of Lakeshore had <br />successfully remedied the problem of fumes from the adjacent <br />firehall. The Board also discussed the date of the November Board <br />meeting and determined that: <br /> <br />Moved by Mr. O'Neil <br />Seconded by Mr. McDermott <br />THAT the next Library Board meeting be rescheduled to November 26 <br />at 6:00 p.m. CARRIED. <br /> <br />Finally, at Woodslee, the Board noted the condition of the <br />building. It was suggested that Mr. George write to the Town of <br />Lakeshore to advise them of the deficiencies the Board had noted at <br />some of their library facilities. <br /> <br /> <br />
