ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD <br /> <br /> FALL TOUR <br /> <br /> 9:30 a.m., Saturday, <br /> October 25, 2003 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Varga, Mrs. Fuerth, Messrs. Allsop, DiMenna, <br />Renaud and Warden O'Neil <br />Chief Librarian George and Manager of Branches <br />Thompson <br /> <br />Ail branch libraries north of County Road 8 were visited: the one <br />in LaSalle (William (Bill) Varga Library), the one in Tecumseh <br />(Cada Municipal Library) and the four in Lakeshore: Lakeshore, <br />Stoney Point, Comber and Woodslee. <br /> <br />The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet staff <br />members at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an <br />overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the three <br />municipalities in the northern part of the County. <br /> <br />At LaSalle, Board members viewed the catalogue of the new automated <br />system, Sirsi Unicorn replacing DRA MultiLIS. <br /> <br />At Tecumseh, Doreen Ouellette met with Board members. It was noted <br />that the book shelves were slowly filling up compared to last <br />year's tour. <br /> <br />At Lakeshore, it was noted that the roof was still leaking. This <br />has been a problem since the.Library opened, more than four years <br />ago. <br /> <br />At Stoney Point, the problems with access to the building entrance <br />from the street were again noted. <br /> <br />At Comber, Board members immediately noted the strong odour of <br />petroleum in the entrance area of the Library. They immediately <br />expressed concern about the health and safety of the library <br />employees and the public. It was therefore: <br /> <br />58/03 <br /> <br />Moved by Mr. Renaud <br />Seconded by Mr. Allsop <br />THAT the Council of the Town of Lakeshore be notified of the <br />problem and the need for immediate attention to remedy <br />the problem(s) before the Board of Health and the Ministry <br />of the Environment were contacted in two months. CARRIED. <br /> <br />Finally, at Woodslee, the Board again noted the need for painting <br />on the hanging over the exterior entrance to the Library. <br /> <br /> <br />
