ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD

FALL TOUR

9:30 a.m., Saturday,
November 2, 2002

Members Present:

Mr. Bowman, Mrs. Fuerth, Messrs. Allsop, DiMenna,
Renaud and Warden O'Neil
Chief Librarian George, Manager of Branches
Thompson

Ail branch libraries north of County Road 8 were visited: the one
in LaSalle, the one in Tecumseh and the four in Lakeshore:
Lakeshore, Stoney Point, Comber and Woodslee.

The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet staff
members at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an
overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the three
municipalities in the northern part of the County.

At LaSalle, staff drew attention to the flat screen monitors
mounted on arms that had been installed in all branches this year
which give the staff maximum flexibility to adjust the height and
angle of the screen.

At Tecumseh, Mrs. Ouellette of the Tecumseh Council met the Board
and expressed concern regarding the adequacy of the book
collection. It was then:

Moved by Mr. Renaud
Seconded by Mr. DiMenna
THAT staff hours be transferred, as recommended, from the McGregor
Library to the Essex Library and the hours for public use adjusted
accordingly. CARRIED.

At Lakeshore, the construction of the large subdivision of new
homes across the street from the Library was noted. It was
suggested that once more homes were built and occupied that a
review of the hours of the Lakeshore Library might be necessary.

At the Stoney Point Branch, the lack of a sidewalk or paved
