ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD <br /> <br />FALL TOUR <br /> <br />9:30 a.m., Saturday, <br />November 2, 2002 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Bowman, Mrs. Fuerth, Messrs. Allsop, DiMenna, <br />Renaud and Warden O'Neil <br /> Chief Librarian George, Manager of Branches <br /> Thompson <br /> <br />Ail branch libraries north of County Road 8 were visited: the one <br />in LaSalle, the one in Tecumseh and the four in Lakeshore: <br />Lakeshore, Stoney Point, Comber and Woodslee. <br /> <br />The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet staff <br />members at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an <br />overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the three <br />municipalities in the northern part of the County. <br /> <br />At LaSalle, staff drew attention to the flat screen monitors <br />mounted on arms that had been installed in all branches this year <br />which give the staff maximum flexibility to adjust the height and <br />angle of the screen. <br /> <br />At Tecumseh, Mrs. Ouellette of the Tecumseh Council met the Board <br />and expressed concern regarding the adequacy of the book <br />collection. It was explained that the Board had implemented a plan <br />in 2002, approved by County Council, to increase per capita <br />expenditures on books and that any specific concerns regarding the <br />availability of books should be directed to the staff of the <br />Library. <br /> <br />Mr. George advised the Board that the resignation of a staff member <br />at the McGregor Branch had just been received and that, following <br />a review of usage at the McGregor Library and the example of the <br />transfer of hours from the Ruthven Library to the Kingsville <br />Library just recently approved, a transfer of staff hours from the <br />McGregor Library to the Essex Library was recommended. It was then: <br /> <br />Moved by Mr. Renaud <br />Seconded by Mr. DiMenna <br />THAT staff hours be transferred, as recommended, from the McGregor <br />Library to the Essex Library and the hours for public use adjusted <br />accordingly. CARRIED. <br /> <br />At Lakeshore, the construction of the large subdivision of new <br />homes across the street from the Library was noted. It was <br />suggested that once more homes were built and occupied that a <br />review of the hours of the Lakeshore Library might be necessary. <br /> <br />At the Stoney Point Branch, the lack of a sidewalk or paved <br /> <br /> <br />
