Library Board
Minutes (cont'd) - 4 -

d) 2002 Library_ Board Budget

January 30 , 2002

Moved by Mr. DiMenna
Seconded by Mr. Renaud
THAT the 2002 budget estimates of the Essex County
Library Board be approved. CARRIED.
The capital reserve was used up in 2001 for the
Tecumseh Branch except for $9,500. With the very
real possibility that the Amherstburg, Essex and
Kingsville branches will relocate from their current
Carnegie buildings in the next few years, it would be
very prudent to begin rebuilding the capital reserve.
The cost of furnishings and equipment for these three
locations is estimated at not less than $250,000
each, for a total of $750,000. Although included
initially, there is now no provision in the 2002
Library Board budget for a contribution to the
capital reserve, given the county's overall budget
situation. It is therefore recommended that $40,500
be transferred out of the contingency reserve of
$52,078 to the capital reserve to increase the
capital reserve balance to $50,000.

Moved by warden O'Neil
Seconded by Mr. Allsop
THAT $40,500 be transferred from the Contingency
CARRIED.
Reserve to the Capital Reserve.

14.

Qther Unfinished Business

15.

New Business

There being no further business, upon motion
chairperson Varga declared the meeting adjourned.
All of which is respectfully submitted,

Mr. William Varga, chairperson
