ESSEX COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD

SPRING TOUR

9:30 a.m., Saturday,
April 28, 2001

Members Present: Mr. Varga, Mrs. Fuerth, Messrs. Allsop, Bowman,
DiMenna and Warden O'Neil
Chief Librarian George and Manger of Branches Thompson

Ail branches south of County Road 8 were visited: the three in
Town of Essex - McGregor, Harrow and Essex, the three in the Town
of Kingsville - Cottam, Ruthven and Kingsville, and those in the
Town of Amherstburg and the Municipality of Leamington.

The tour provided an opportunity for the Board to meet staff
members at their libraries, examine the facilities and get an
overview of the operations of the branch libraries in the four
municipalities in the southern part of the County.

The Board met with Councillor Rosa White at the Amherstburg Library
to discuss future possible plans for the library.

Board members visited briefly with the staff at all libraries.
Deficiencies were noted at the McGregor, Essex and Kingsville
Libraries but Board members were generally pleased with the
appearance of all libraries.

Chairperson Varga and Board member DiMenna had supplied their
vehicles for the tour thus saving the rental fee for a vehicle.

Chairperson Varga declared the meeting to have been of
extraordinary length and set the per diem at one and a half the
regular rate.

Ail of which is respectfully submitted.

Mr. William Varga, Chairperson
