THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX BY -LAW NUMBER 21 -2002 BEING A BY -LAW TO DESIGNATE COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONES WHEREAS Section 214.1 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, cH.8, as amended, provides that the Council of a municipality may, by by -law, designate a part of a highway under its jurisdiction as a community safety zone, if, in the opinion of Council, public safety is of special concern on the said part of the highway; AND WHEREAS, the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex is of the opinion that public safety is of a special concern on those parts of highways more particularly described in Schedule "A" attached hereto. NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. In this by -law, "Highway" includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, squares, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof. 2. That the parts of highways under the jurisdiction of the County of Essex as set forth in Column A of Schedule "A" attached to this by -law be and they are hereby designated as a Community Safety Zone in the locations set forth in Column B and for the time as set forth in Column C of the said Schedule "A ". 3. By -law # 21 -2002 shall come into force and take effect on July 17, 2002, at which time By -law # 52 -2001 passed November 21st, 2 ha11 be repealed. PASSED this 17th day of July, 2002.
