Countv of <br />Essex <br />The Corporation of the County of Essex <br />By-Law Number 29-2OL6 <br />A By-law to Authorize the Execution of a Joint Operational <br />Cyanide Antidote Deployment Agreement between The <br />Corporation of the County of Essex (Essex Windsor <br />Emergency Medical Services), Windsor Regional Hospital, <br />The Corporation of the City of Windsor and the seven <br />lower tier municipalities in the County of Essex. <br />Whereas emergency responders, in the course of their duties, may be <br />exposed to poisonous and noxious chemicals including cyanide, which poses <br />significant health risks; <br />And Whereas expeditious delivery of the antidote "Cyanokit" can limit <br />the toxic effect of cyanide exposure; <br />And Whereas Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EWEMS) <br />paramedics are trained and certified by the Southwest Ontario Regional Base <br />Program to dispatch and administer Cyanokit within their service delivery <br />area, being, the County of Essex, City of Windsor and Township of Pelee; <br />And Whereas the EWEMS, Windsor Regional Hospital, City of Windsor <br />and seven lower tier municipalities in the County of Essex, wish to enter into <br />a Joint Operational Cyanide Antidote Deployment Agreement to ensure the <br />supply and dispatch of Cyanokit is coordinated and administered <br />expeditiously to limit the toxic effects of cyanide on emergency responders; <br />Now therefore the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex <br />hereby enacts as follows: <br />1) That the Warden and the Clerk of the Corporation be and they are <br />hereby authorized to execute the Joint Operational Cyanide Antidote <br />Deployment Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto, and affix <br />the Corporate Seal thereto.
