Page 2 <br />On behalf of the County and its local municipalities, I would like to express <br />our appreciation for the commitment AM800 has made to covering local <br />municipal issues. I have always found AM800 reporters and reporting to be <br />forthright, balanced and informed. I know AM800 will keep up the good work <br />by providing County residents with an awareness of what is happening in <br />their local communities. <br />would also like to thank Matt and the Chamber for this opportunity to come <br />before you today to share some of my thoughts and perspectives on what <br />lies ahead for the County of Essex and its seven local municipalities <br />throughout 2017. <br />The Chamber has a long history of advancing the business interests of its <br />members, seeking to impact the political agenda at all levels of government. <br />The County appreciates the leadership Matt and his team have <br />demonstrated and the hard work the Chamber has undertaken to support <br />jobs and economic growth across the region through such initiatives as the <br />tireless efforts conducted in seeking to lower electricity costs, pursuing the <br />suspension of the carbon tax known as cap and trade and advocating for the <br />end to the dumping of steel by China and others which has adversely <br />impacted key local employers like Atlas Tube. <br />I'm not sure if Matt has mentioned this or not, but I ran into him a couple of <br />days ahead of one of the race dates in Leamington last summer.
