THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX <br />PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES <br />SUBJECT: ACCESSIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE PRACTICES & PROCEDURES <br />Information Technology and Geographic Information System <br />Services Practices & Procedures <br />1.0 PURPOSE <br />UNDER POLICY NO: 09 -001 <br />EFFECTIVE DATE: <br />January 1, 2010 <br />REPLACES ISSUE OF: <br />PAGE 1 OF 3 <br />The Corporation of the County of Essex will provide Information Technology (IT) and <br />Geographic Information System (GIS) services, information and products in a manner <br />consistent with the requirements of the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario <br />Regulation 429/07 (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.) <br />.2 The Corporation of the County of Essex will provide Information Technology (IT) and <br />Geographic Information System (GIS) services, information and products in a manner <br />consistent with The Corporation of the County of Essex Accessible Customer Service Policy <br />#09 -001. <br />2.0 TRAINING <br />All full -time, part-time and volunteer staff of the IT /GIS department will receive training in <br />accordance with the Accessible Customer Service Standard and County of Essex Accessible <br />Customer Service Policy 409 -001. <br />.2 All third - parties providing goods or services to the public on behalf of the IT /GIS department <br />will be required to provide proof of training in accordance with the Accessible Customer <br />Service Standard and County of Essex Accessible Customer Service Policy #09 -001. <br />Record of Accessible Customer Service training will be documented by the Corporation of <br />the County of Essex Human Resources Department. <br />3.0 SERVICE PROVISION <br />The primary manner by which the IT Department interacts with the public is through the <br />creation and maintenance of the Corporation of the County of Essex website. <br />.2 The website of the Corporation of the County of Essex will strive to adhere to the Web <br />Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG), published by the World Wide Web <br />Consortium (W3C). <br />The Corporation of the County of Essex will not be responsible to ensure compliance with <br />the Accessible Customer Service Standard for websites of any and all outside parties that <br />utilize infrastructure owned and operated by the Corporation of the County of Essex. <br />
