B1' -LAWS OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX 3 <br />History of the Cities, Towns, Villages <br />and Police Villages in the <br />County of Essex <br />AMHERSTBURiG —Was incorporated as a village in 1851, and as a <br />town in 1878. This was the first incorporation in Essex County. <br />ESSEX —Was incorporated as a village by By -law No. 14, dated <br />August 14, 1883. Created a town January 1, 1890. <br />FORD CITY —Was incorporated as a village by By -law No. 306, dated <br />December 3, 1912; was created a town in the year 1915; a city in <br />April, 1929, by the Ontario Municipal Board and named Eaat <br />Windsor; was amalgamated with Windsor, Walkerville and Sand- <br />wich by an Act of Legislature, effective June, 1935. <br />HARROW —Was incorporated as a police village by By -law No. 90, <br />date June 10, 1898; created a town by an Act of Parliament <br />(see Chap. 83, 20 George V, 1930). <br />KINGS - GVILLE —Was incorporated a village by By -law No. 5, dated <br />June 21, 1877; was created a town by Act of Parliament. <br />LA SALLE —Was created a town by Act of Parliament, Chap. 102, <br />14 George V, 1924. <br />LEAMINGTON —Was incorporated as a village by By -law No. 4, <br />dated November 26; 18'74 was made a town. <br />OJLBWAY —Was made a town by Act of Parliament, Chap. 198, 3 -4. <br />George V. <br />RIVERSIDE —Was incorporated as a town by an Act of Parliament, <br />Chap. 121, 11, George V, 1921. <br />j� r <br />
