CORPORATION OF THE COUNT'~OF ESSEX <br /> BY-LAW NO. 2732 <br /> <br />A By-Law to regulate parking. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of The Municipal, <br />R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, Section 225, Paragraph 7(c) and <br />Paragraph 9 the Council of the Corporation of the County of <br />Essex is desirous of regulating parking; <br /> <br /> NON THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the <br />County of Essex enacts as follows: <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS: <br /> <br />1. For the purpose of this by-law: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />"Highway" shall include a common or public highway, <br />street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, <br />bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is <br />intended for or used by the general public for the <br />passage of vehicles and includes the area between the <br />lateral property lines thereof. <br /> <br />(b) "Park" or "parking" shall mean the standing or <br /> stopping of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except <br /> when standing temporarily for the purpose of and while <br /> actually engaged in loading or unloading merchandise <br /> or passengers. <br /> <br />(c) "Vehicle" shall include a motor vehicle, trailer, <br /> traction engine, farm tractor, road-building machine <br /> and any vehicle drawn, propelled or driven by any kind <br /> of power, including muscular power, but does not <br /> include a motorized snow vehicle, the cars or electric <br /> or steam railways running only upon rails. <br /> <br />METHOD OF <br /> <br />2. (a) <br /> <br />PARKING: <br /> <br />No person shall park a vehicle on any highway, other <br />than a one-way highway save and except on the right <br />hand side of the highway having regard for the <br />direction in which the vehicle had been proceeding. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />No person shall park a vehicle on any highway unless <br />the right front and right rear wheels or runners of <br />the vehicle are parallel to and distant respectively <br />not more than 15 centimetres from the edge of the <br />highway. <br /> <br /> <br />
