BY-LAW NUMBER 2653 <br /> <br />A BY-LU~ TO REGULATE PARKING <br /> <br /> W~REAS pursuant to the provisions of The Mnnicipal, R.S.O. 1980, fhapter <br />302, Section 225, Paragraph 7 (c) ar~ Paragraph 9 the Council of the Corporation <br />of the gounty of Essex is desirous of regulating parking; <br /> <br /> Ng~ THEREFORE the Cbuncil of the Corporation of the County of Essex <br />enacts as follows: <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS: <br /> <br />For the purpose of this by-law: <br /> <br />"Highway" includes a cu~on or public highway, street, avenue, p~rkw~y, <br />driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is <br />intended for or used by the general public for the p~ssage of vehicles <br />ar~ includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof. The <br />Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1980, (/~apter 198, Section i (1) paragraph <br />14. <br /> <br />"Park" or "parking", when prohibited, means the standing of a vehicle, <br />whether occupied or not, except when standing t~porarily for the purpose <br />of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading merchandise or <br />passengers. The Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 198, Section 1 <br />(1) u~ragraph 25. <br /> <br />"Vehicle" includes a motor vehicle, trailer, traction engine, farm <br />tractor, road-building machine and any vehicle drawn, propelled or driven <br />by any kind of power, including nuscular power, but does not include a <br />motorized snow vehicle, the cars or electric or steam railways running <br />only upon rails. The Highway Traffic, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 198, Section <br />1 (1) paragraph 39. <br /> <br />MA~FHOD OF PARKING: <br /> <br />No parson shall park a vehicle on any street other than a one-way street <br />unless on the right hand side of the street having regard for the <br />direction in which the vehicle had been proceeding ar~ unless the right <br />front and right rear wheels or runners of the vehicle are parallel to and <br />distant respectively not more than 15 centimetres from the edge of the <br />roadway. <br /> <br />PARKING REGULATIONS: <br /> <br />When properly worded signs have been erected and are on display rD parson <br />shall park a vehicle on the highways or part of highways hereinafter set <br />out in Schedule "A". <br /> <br />PENALTIES: <br /> <br />Any person violating any of the provisions of this by-law shall be <br />subject to a penalty of not more than ten dollars for the first offence <br />and not more than fifty dollars for every subsequent offence, urger the <br />Ontario Summary Convictions ACt. <br /> <br /> <br />
