BY-LAW NUMBER 2274 <br /> <br />A BY-LAW TO REGULATE PARKING <br /> <br /> WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Act, 1976, Section <br />373, Paragraph l0 (c) the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex <br />is desirous of regulating parking; <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS it is desirous to convert to metric signing; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex <br />enacts as follows: <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS: <br /> <br />For the purpose of this by-law: <br /> <br />"Park" or "parking", when prohibited, means the standing of a <br />vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when standing temporarily <br />for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unload- <br />ing merchandise or passengers. <br /> <br />"Highway" includes a common or public highway, street, avenue, <br />parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, <br />designed and intended for, or used by, the general public for the <br />passage of vehicles. <br /> <br />"Vehicle" includes a motor vehicle, trailer, traction engine, farm <br />tractor, raod-building machine and any vehicle drawn, propelled or <br />driven by any kind of power, including muscular power, but does not <br />include a motorized snow vehicle, the cars or electric or steam <br />railways running only upon rails. O. 1970. <br /> <br />METHOD 0M PARKING: <br /> <br />No person shall park a vehicle on any street other than a one-way <br />street unless on the right hand side of the street having regard for <br />the direction in which the vehicle had been proceeding and unless <br />the right front and right rear wheels or runners of the vehicle <br />are parallel to and distant respectively not more than 15 centi- <br />metres from the edge of the roadway. <br /> <br />PARKINGREGULATIONS: <br /> <br />When properly worded signs have been erected and are on display no <br />person shall park a vehicle on the highways or part of highways <br />hereinafter set out in Schedule '~". <br /> <br />PENALTIES: <br /> <br />Any person violating any of the provisions of this by-law shall be <br />subject to a penalty of not more than ten dollars for the first <br />offence and not more than fifty dollars for every subsequent offence, <br />under the Ontario Summary Convictions Act. <br /> <br /> <br />
