CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX <br />BY -LAW NUMBER 2022 <br />A BY -LAW TO ESTABLISH THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE REPRESENTATION ON <br />THE ESSEX COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION TO THE COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES <br />AND THE PUBLIC SCHOOL ELECTORS THEREOF. <br />WHEREAS by Subsection 10 of Section 38 of The Secondary <br />Schools and Boards of Eduction Act, R. S. 0. 1970, Chapter 425, as amended, <br />provides in accordance with Section 38, Subsection 4, that the Council <br />of the County shall determine, before the 1st day of September, 1972, <br />the County municipalities to be represented by each member to be elected <br />in the shcool division by the public school electors under Subsection 4, <br />namely twelve members, but in no case shall the determination provide for <br />a member to be elected by a general vote of all the public school electors <br />of the County. <br />subsection 9; <br />AND WHEREAS under subsection 10 in determining under <br />(a) the number of members to be elected by the public <br />school supporters of a county municipality; or <br />(b) the county municipalities that are to be combined <br />for the election of one or more members by the public school electors <br />of such municipalities, the Council of the County shall apportion the <br />number of members determined under subsection 4; namely 12 members, as <br />nearly as is practicable, in the proportion that equalized residential <br />and farm assessment of the property rateable for public school purposes <br />in the municipality or combined municipalities bears to the total equalized <br />residential and farm assessment of the property rateable for public school <br />purposes in all the county municipalities in the school division and shall, <br />insofar as is practicable to do so, combine municipalities that are ajoin- <br />ing. <br />NOW THEREFORE the County of Essex enacts as follows: <br />1. That the municipalities of the County shall, in <br />compliance with the terms of the Act, summarized in the preamble, be <br />combined into six groups for the purpose of electing twelve members to <br />the Essex County Board of Education. <br />2. That the County municipality of the Town of Leamington <br />having in 1972 an equalized public school assessment as defined in the <br />Act, of $37,305,356.00 shall elect one member. <br />3. That the County municipalities of the Townships of <br />Sandwich West, Anderdon, and Sandwich South having in 1972 combined equalized <br />public school assessment, as defined in the Act, of $71,426,324.00 shall <br />together elect two members. <br />4. That the County municipalities of the Towns of <br />Amherstburg and Harrow, and the Townships of Malden and Colchester South, <br />having in 1972 combined equalized public school assessment, as defined <br />in the Act, of $73,206,351.00 , shall together elect two members. <br />5. That the County municipalities of the Towns of Tecumseh <br />and Essex, and the Village of St. Clair Beach, and the Townships of <br />Maidstone and Colchester North, having in 1972 combined equalized public <br />school assessment, as defined in the Act, of $76,139,924.00, shall together <br />elect two members. <br />6. That the County municipalities of the Town of Belle <br />River, and the Townships of Rochester, Tilbury West, and Tilbury North, <br />having in 1972 combined equalized public school assessment as defined <br />in the Act of $36,821,094.00, shall together elect one member. <br />R <br />
