It housed 35 <br />people and had 5 staff members. The <br />male residents maintained an industrial <br />Farm. <br />n 1940 a special care unit was added to <br />the Home. Until this time the name had <br />remained the same often being referred <br />Lo as "the poor house ". <br />n 1944 the name was changed to Home <br />For the Aged of Essex County. <br />The Sun Parlor Home for Senior Citizens <br />became the official name of the Home <br />in 1959. <br />Through the years the need became <br />apparent for a much larger facility and in <br />1961 the original building was <br />Demolished. <br />Residents moved into the new 225 bed <br />Facility in 1962. <br />3y 1971 the Home had grown to consist of <br />)ver 96,000 square feet of living space <br />and housed 294 residents. <br />The current building was constructed in <br />1990 and consists of 4 floors. We now <br />-iave 206 residents living in our facility <br />and employ over 250 staff.
