BY -LAW NUMBER 1966 A BY -LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX TO LEVY THE COUNTY OF ESSEX RATES TO PROVIDE FOR THE MONIES PAYABLE UNDER THE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT ACT, AND FOR THE COUNTY LIBRARY EXPENDITURES AND FOR THE GENERAL EXPENDITURES OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX FOR THE YEAR 1971. WHEREAS it has been deemed expedient by the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex that there shall be raised, levied, and collected in the different towns, village, and townships in the County of Essex the several amounts as set opposite their respective names in the schedule hereto attached and which forms part of this by -law. BE IT THEREFORE enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex and it is hereby enacted as follows: 1. That there shall be raised, levied, and collected at the rate of 4.53 mills on the dollar, upon the whole of the rateable property in the County of Essex for the purpose of raising the sum of One Million, Three Hundred and Sixty -eight Thousand and Twenty -five dollars and twenty - three cents ($1,368,025.23) being the amount estimated to cover the General Expenses for the current year of 1971 the annual amount to be raised by this by -law. 2. AND it is further enacted by virtue of the Highway Improvement Act, and amendments thereto, there shall be raised, levied, and collected upon the whole of the rateable property in the County of Essex at the rate of 2.66 mills on the dollar, for the purpose of raising the sum of Eight Hundred and Three Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety -nine dollars and Twenty -five cents ($803,299.25) being the amount required for the County Road System for the County of Essex for the year 1971. 3. AND it is further enacted by virtue of the Public Library Act, and amendments thereto, there shall be raised, levied, and collected upon the whole of the rateable property in the County of Essex, save and except that rateable property in the Towns of Leamington and Belle River, at the rate of .71 mills on the dollar, for the purpose of raising the sum of One Hundred and Eighty -seven Thousand, One Hundred and Forty -six dollars and sixty -two cents ($187,146.62)being the amount required for the County Library System for the County of Essex for the year 1971. 4. AND it is hereby enacted that the several assessments above shall be apportioned against and borne by the different municipalities in the proportion hereinafter mentioned and that the several rates for which they are designated shall be paid into the hands of the Treasurer within the time provided by by -law to be applied for the several purposes as mentioned in this by -law. 5. This by -law shall come into force and take effect upon the final passing thereof. 6. All other by -laws inconsistent to this by -law are hereby repealed.
