BY-LA~ NUMBER 1729 A By-law of the Corporation of the County of Essex for the purpose of providing for the Remuneration for the members for their attendance at regular and special meetings of council and committee meetings and mileage to and from the said meetings. WHEREAS the ~unicipal Act, Chapter 2~9, R. S. O. 1960, Section 406 (2) states that the council of a county may pass by-laws for paying the members of council an annual allowance not exceeding $1,000.00; AN~ WItEREAS the ~iunicipal Act, Chapter 2~9, R. 5. O. 1960, Section ~05 (2) states that where a member of a council is paid remuneration under section 203, 212 or ~06, such member is not entitled to payment for attendance at meetings; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex deems it advisable to pass a by-law to provide such remuneration for its members attending council and committee meetings, on an annual allowance as allowed under Section 406 (2) of The Municipal Act, Chapter 249, R. S. O. 1960, and to provide for the payment of mileage to and from the said council and committee meetings for its members as allowed under Section 405 (3) of The Municipal Act, Chapter 2&9, R.5.O. 1960; BE IT THEREFORE enacted and it is hereby enacted by the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex as follows: 1. That each and every member of the Council of the County of Essex shall be entitled to receive the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per annum for his attendance at the regular and special meetings of the County Council, and all the meet~[ngs of the committee or board to which he may be appointed by the County Council in accordance with Sections 55 (b) and 56 of By-law Number 1726 of the Corporation of the County of Essex, except the Warden of the County of Essex. 2. That each and every member of any Special Committee appointed by the County Council under Section 55 (a) of By-law Number 1726 of the Corporation of the County of Essex shall be entitled to receive the s'mm of Twenty Dollars ($20.00) for every attendance at a meeting of 'the said Special Committee, except the Warden of the County of Essex. 3. That the Chairman of all the Standing Committees appointed by the Council under Section 56 of By-law Number 1726 of the Corporation of the County of Essex, shall be entitled to receive the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per annum for his services over and above the amount allowed a member for his attendance at the regular and special meetings of the County Council and all the meetings of the committee and board to which he may be appointed by the Council under Sections 55(b) and 56 of the said By-law ~fumber 1726; &. That each and every member of the Council and of any Committee so appointed shall be entitled to a further sum of ten cents (.10¢) for each mile necessarily travelled 'to and from each meeting of the Council and Committee.
