<br />Be it therefore enacted by the Municipal Corporation of the County of Essex, is
<br />Council assembled, that By -Law No. 14, as consolidated (formerly Bylaw No. 13OX
<br />be, and the same is hereby repealed.
<br />And be it further enacted that James S. Laird be, and is hereby appointed, to ap
<br />intents and purposes, the County Engineer for the said County of Essex.
<br />And be it further enacted that for each days service the said James S. Laird shall be
<br />employed by the corporation of the County of Essex, he shall be paid therefor at *
<br />rate of $5 per diem.

<br />Whereas, it is expedient and necessary to appoint a proper and competent peteom la
<br />inspect the books of all such incorporated Joint Stock Road Companies, over whit]
<br />the Dunicipal Council of the County of Essex has jurisdiction:
<br />Be it therefore enacted by the corporation of the County of Essex, tnat the %N?Uda
<br />be, and he is hereby appointed, Inspector of the books and affairs of all the Incorpo
<br />ated Joint Stock Companies, over which the Municipal Council of the said Cottntf bs
<br />or may have urisdiction.
<br />And be it turther enacted that the duties of the said Inspector shall be to inspect tk
<br />books and affairs annually, of each of the said companies, and report fully thereon ohr
<br />ing his term of office.
<br />And be it further enacted that the said Warden shall receive the sum of $4
<br />for each day that he may be actually and necessarily engaged as such lnspeetae, sal t6
