Whereas, it is necessary and expedient to assume as a county road the allow awforroad in the said township of Sandwich West hereinafter more partic- ularly described ; and whereas the township council have by resolution desired that said road be assumed : Be it therefore enacted by the corporation of the county of Essex in council assembled, and it is hereby enacted, that the allowance for road between lots serenty -nine and eighty between the second and third concessions of the town - sbipof Sandwich West, and known as the continuation of the Dougall Road, be and the same is hereby assumed as a county road for the purpose of expend- ingthe count appropriation thereon, and for that purpose only. A 841'r to wise certain monies for the improvement of certain Roads and Bridges in the County o IMF- Passed June 25th, r880. Whereas, it is expedient to raise certain monies for the improvement of cer. tain roads and bridges in the County of Essex: Be it therefore enacted by the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex, in Council assembled ; and it is hereby enacted under the authority of thesame, and under and by virtue of the Municipal Act of Ontario, that there shall be levied and collected the sum of $14.850 upon the whole rateable pro- perly in the County of Essex in addition to all other rates and assessments im- posed for the improvement of certain roads and bridges in the County of Essex. Be it further enacted that the sum of $14,850 to be raised, levied and collect- ed as aforesaid, shall be expended as set forth in the schedule hereinunder rotten, which schedule shall form part of this by -law. And be it further enacted that the whole work to be done and performed as aforesaid shall be given out by contract by public competition or in such other manner as the commissioners duly appointed to superintend the same may deem best, on or before the first day of September next; and should any one dthe said commissioners fail to be present at the time appointed for the let- ting of the work, then any one of the commissioners may proceed to the letting I the same. And be it further enacted that all contracts entered into for the performance Ithe work to be done under the provisions of the by -law shall be signed by It commissioner or commissioners letting the same, on behalf of the county tOrMtion; and that all sums be paid by the treasurer of the county upon an Order being produced from the said commissioner or commissioners letting the same. And be it further enacted that the several commissioners appointed to super - "tend the lettiug of the work to be done as aforesaid, shall receive four per tenL upon contracts entered into by them under the provision of this by -law.
