<br />A By.I.aw to provide for the current expenses of the County of Sash, for the Tom' 18000. Peeled 1

<br />Whereas, it is necesary to provide the sum of $16,706 to defray the expenses
<br />of the Zounty of Essex according to the estimate of the Finance Committee;
<br />And whereas, for the purpose of raising the said sum of $t6,7069 it wiil re-
<br />quire a rate of 2X mills on the dollar upon all rateable property in the said
<br />county of Essex for the purpose of raising the said sum of $16,706, in addition
<br />to the other rates and assessments for and during the present year for the 9M
<br />eral expenses of the current year ;
<br />And be it further enacted, that the sum of one dollar and fifty cents be pa'd
<br />to each and every Grand and Petit Juror for each days' attendance at any
<br />Court of Assize, Nisi Prius and General Sessions of the Peace and County
<br />Court, and the further sum of ten cents per mile necessarily travelled from his
<br />place of residence to the court house of the said county, according to the pay
<br />list to be kept by the Sheriff of the said county ;
<br />And be it also enacted, that the Sheriff' of the said county shall be entitled to
<br />receive the following sums, and no more for the services performed by him
<br />under this by -law, namely : for every pay list the sum of one dollar for check-
<br />ing the same, the sum of twenty -five cents, and for certifying and returning the
<br />same to the Treasurer of the county the sum of one dollar ;
<br />And be it further enacted that all sums payable under the third and fourth
<br />sections of this by -law, shall be paid by the Treasurer of the county upon the
<br />certified pay list of the Sheriff;
<br />And be it further enacted, that the burthen of the several assessments above
<br />required, shall be apportioned amongst and borne by the several munieipali•
<br />ties in the proportion or shares hereinafter mentioned, and the several sums %4
<br />opposite to the names of each municipality in the schedule hereunder written,
<br />which schedule shall form part of this by -law, shall be raised, leaed and cob
<br />lected therein upon the whole rateable property in each respectively for the
<br />several rates for which they are designed, and shall be paid over into the hands
<br />of the county Treasurer in the present year to be by him applied to the several
<br />purpsses mentioned in this by-law:
