BY -LAWS OF TH8 COUNTY OF IgSX1. Village of Belle River," and shall enjoy all such rights, powers and prinleges as are now or shall be hereinafter conferred on incorporated Yfflages in the Province of Ontario. II. The said Village of Belle River shall comprise and consist of the following lots and parcels of land in the Township, that is to say: I that part of lot A and the north half of lot number one, lying on the west side of Duck Creek. the west •nalf of the south half of said lot number one, and the western quarter of lot number two, all in the first concession east of Belle River, in said Township of Rochester; also of the following lots and parcels of land in the Township of Jaidstone, that is to say: the east quarters of lots A and numbers one I and two, in the first concession of said township of Maidstone. III. Be it further enacted that the first election of Reeve and Councillors for the said Village of Belle River shall be held at the I Town Hall,. in the said village of Belle River, at noon on the 27th i day of December, 1875. IV. And be it farther enacted that Francis X. Farley, of the said Village of Belle River, shall be and he is hereby appointed Re- 1 turning Officer to hold the first election of Reeve and Councillors for I the said Village of Belle River, and he shall give one week's written notice thereof, posted up in at least three conspicuous places in the said village, and he shall preside at tho nomination of such Reeve and Councillors, or in case of hiR absence, the electors present shall choose from among themselves a chairman, who shall have all the powers of a Returning Officer, and the polling for the said election shall be held on the same day of the week in the week following the said nomination, and the duties of the Returning Officer shall be those prescribed by law with respect to incorporated villages. V. The Township Clerks of the Townships of Rochester and V, aidstone shall furnish to the Returning Officer, upon demand made by him for the same, a certified copy of so much of the last revised assessment rolls of the said townships as may be required to ascer- tain the persons entitled to vote at such first election, or with the collectors' rolls, documents, writing or statement that may be required which copies shall be verified on oath, or as now required by law, and the expenses of furnishing the same shall be borne and paid by the Village Council to the parties entitled thereto. VII. The several persons who shall be elected or appointed under this by -law shall take the same oaths of office and of qualification as are now prescribed by law. VII. In all other respects the said several persons appointed under this by -law shall comply with the provisions of the Municipal Institutions Act of Ontario respecting incorporated villages.
