BY -LAWS OF TH8 COUNTY OF IgSX1. <br />Village of Belle River," and shall enjoy all such rights, powers and <br />prinleges as are now or shall be hereinafter conferred on incorporated <br />Yfflages in the Province of Ontario. <br />II. The said Village of Belle River shall comprise and consist of <br />the following lots and parcels of land in the Township, that is to say: I <br />that part of lot A and the north half of lot number one, lying on <br />the west side of Duck Creek. the west •nalf of the south half of said lot <br />number one, and the western quarter of lot number two, all in the <br />first concession east of Belle River, in said Township of Rochester; <br />also of the following lots and parcels of land in the Township of <br />Jaidstone, that is to say: the east quarters of lots A and numbers one I <br />and two, in the first concession of said township of Maidstone. <br />III. Be it further enacted that the first election of Reeve and <br />Councillors for the said Village of Belle River shall be held at the I <br />Town Hall,. in the said village of Belle River, at noon on the 27th i <br />day of December, 1875. <br />IV. And be it farther enacted that Francis X. Farley, of the <br />said Village of Belle River, shall be and he is hereby appointed Re- 1 <br />turning Officer to hold the first election of Reeve and Councillors for I <br />the said Village of Belle River, and he shall give one week's written <br />notice thereof, posted up in at least three conspicuous places in the <br />said village, and he shall preside at tho nomination of such Reeve <br />and Councillors, or in case of hiR absence, the electors present shall <br />choose from among themselves a chairman, who shall have all the <br />powers of a Returning Officer, and the polling for the said election <br />shall be held on the same day of the week in the week following the <br />said nomination, and the duties of the Returning Officer shall be those <br />prescribed by law with respect to incorporated villages. <br />V. The Township Clerks of the Townships of Rochester and <br />V, aidstone shall furnish to the Returning Officer, upon demand made <br />by him for the same, a certified copy of so much of the last revised <br />assessment rolls of the said townships as may be required to ascer- <br />tain the persons entitled to vote at such first election, or with the <br />collectors' rolls, documents, writing or statement that may be required <br />which copies shall be verified on oath, or as now required by law, <br />and the expenses of furnishing the same shall be borne and paid by <br />the Village Council to the parties entitled thereto. <br />VII. The several persons who shall be elected or appointed under <br />this by -law shall take the same oaths of office and of qualification as <br />are now prescribed by law. <br />VII. In all other respects the said several persons appointed <br />under this by -law shall comply with the provisions of the Municipal <br />Institutions Act of Ontario respecting incorporated villages. <br />Passed November 26th, 1874, <br />(Signed), THOMAS McKEE, (Signed), THEO.
