<br />To impose a duty on Hawkers and Pedlars. Passed June 18th, 1886.
<br />Whereas it is necessary for the protection of the regular merchants of the scanty
<br />nwell as for the farmers that certain restrictions should be placed upon the hawking
<br />ad peddling of goods. Be it therefore enacted by the County Council of the county
<br />dlleseain council assembled, under and by virtu- of "Ttle conepiiciated Municipal
<br />Act, 1883," as amended by 48 Vic., Chap. 40, as follows : —
<br />1. No person or persons, who, being agent or agents for persons not resident
<br />within the county, shall be or act as a hawker within the county to sell or offer for sate
<br />tsti dry goods, or jewelry, or carry and expose samples or patterns of any of such
<br />pob to be afterwards delivered within the county to any person not being a whole_
<br />ale or retail dealer in such goods, wares or merchandise, with out previonsly having
<br />obWned a license therefor.
<br />8• No person Shall be or act 88 a hawker or pedlar or petty chapman within the
<br />waing of OThe consolidated Municipal Act, 1883," section 4959 sub - section three,
<br />orpo from place to place or to other men's houses on foot or with an animal bearing
<br />admwing any goods, wares or merchandise not the growth, produce or manufacture
<br />of this Province, for sale, or in or with any fit, vessel or other craft, or otherwise
<br />earning goods, wares or merchandise not the growth, produce or mtinafecture of this
<br />Province for sale, who has not obtained a license therefor.
<br />3• No person shall be or act as a hawker, pedlar or petty eh+►pmw within the
<br />swing of said sub- section in the said "The Consolidated Municipal Act, 1883,'1
<br />Out mentioned, for sale of any such goals, wares or merchandise or of liquors
<br />*Aia the meaning •of the law relating to Taverns or Tavern Lieeases without a
<br />beenae having been obtained therefor, unless the same are being hawked or peddled
<br />the taanufacturer or producer of such goods, wares or merchandise, or by his Kona
<br />Mt aenants or employees, having written aathority in that behalf~ and any such
<br />iwmt or employee shall produce and exhibit his written authority when reyuiri-d so
<br />to do by any municipal or peace offluer.
<br />4, The sum to be paid for such licanses shall be : Fur hawking or peddling With
<br />.'vehicle drawn by two or more horses, or other aaimats, fifty dollar.' ; with a vahicle
