5 <br />BY-LAW No, 101, <br />A BY -LAW for improving and repairing the Court House and <br />Gaol at the Town of Sandwich, for.the County of Essex, <br />and to provide for the proper keeping of the same, and fur <br />appropriating the money for the cost thereof out of the <br />General Fund. <br />Passed November 29th, 1895. <br />Whereas it is deemed that those parts of the Court House and Gaol need u <br />Gaoler's apartments are unsanitary and incommodious and the Inspector of Prisons <br />has, from time to time, ordered the same to be remedied : <br />And whereas plans and specifications of improvements and repairs to such Court <br />House and Gaol, making provision for proper apartments for the Gaoler of the said <br />Court Houee and Gaol, have been prepared by Messrs. Mason dt Rios, Architects, <br />and approved of by the Inspector of Prisons for the Province of Ontario : <br />And whereas it is deemed expedient and necessary to improve and repair the <br />said Court House and Gaol, so as to provide such proper apartments for the said <br />Gaoler for the proper keeping of such Court House and Gaol, in accordance with <br />such plans and specifications, so far as the same are applicable thereto and with <br />such amendments and alterations as may be necessary, in order to effectually carry <br />out the said work : <br />And whereas there is yet unappropriated of the General Fund at least the sum <br />of 04,500: <br />Now, therefore, the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the County of <br />Essex enacts as follows :— <br />1. That the Special Committee of the said Council appointed to carry out the <br />improvements, repairs and alterations to the Court House and Gaol, at Sandwich, <br />be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to let the contract for the improv- <br />ing and repairing the said Court House and of providing for proper apartments for <br />the Gaoler thereof, as aforesaid, in accordance with the plans and specifications <br />aforesaid with such amendments and alterations as may by them be deemed neow. <br />ury, and that the Warden and Clerk of the Corporation of the County of Essex be, <br />and they are hereby, authorized and empowered to sign, under the Corporate Seal of <br />the said Corporation, the agreement or agreements for such improvement,► and <br />repairs at a cost not exceeding $4,500. <br />8. That the cost thereof shall be borne by and paid first out of the General <br />Fund heretofore unappropriated and that the Treasurer of the Corporation of the <br />County of Essex do and he is hereby authorized and empowered to set aside the <br />sum of 14,500, hereby appropriated out of the said General Fund for such purpose, <br />and the same shall be paid out from time to time as the improvements and repairs <br />progress, upon the certificate of the Architect or Inspector in charge thereof, <br />endorsed by the chairman of the committee aforesaid and upon the warrant or <br />warrants of the said Warden. <br />(Signed) THOS.
