THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF ESSEX <br /> BY LAW Number 1647 <br /> <br />A by-law for licensing, regulating and govern- <br />ing salvage shops, salvage yards, second-hand <br />goods shops and dealers in second-hand goods, <br />and for revoking any such licence. <br /> <br /> V~EREAS pursuant to Section 396 of The <br />Municipal Act, Revised Statutes of Ontario, Chapter 249, <br />a County is empowered to enact by-laws for the aforesaid <br />purposes; <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to licence, <br />regulate and govern salvage shops, salvage yards, second- <br />hand goods shops and dealers in second-hand goods. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation <br />of the County of Essex enacts as follows: <br /> <br />In this by-law <br /> <br />1. "Dealers in second-hand goods" includes persons who <br />go from house to house or along highways for the purpose <br />of collecting, purchasing or obtaining second-hand goods. <br /> <br />2. "Salvage yard" includes an automobile wrecking yard <br />or premises. <br /> <br />3. "Salvage yard" includes any land or structure used for <br />storing used machinery and used farm machinery, for the <br />purpose of wrecking or dismantling them or salvaging parts <br />thereof for sale or other disposal. <br /> <br />4. "Salvage yard" includes any land or structure used <br />for storing used building materials including timber, <br />lumber, millwork, bricks, cement blocks, for sale or <br />other disposal. <br /> <br />5. "'Second-hand goods"in~ludes waste paper, rags, bones, <br />bottles, bicycles, automobile tires, old metal and other <br />scrap material and salvage. <br /> <br />6. No person shall own or operate a salvage shop, salvage <br />yard, second-hand goods shop or act as a dealer in second- <br />hand goods without having first obtained a licence pursuant <br />to this By-law. <br /> <br />7. Every applicant for licence shall submit a written <br />application to the Council of the Municipality, stating <br />the location of the proposed premises, the nature of the <br />second-hand goods intended to be kept on the premises, <br />and the means of keeping the premises in a neat weed-free <br />condition, and in a sanitary condition, and the nature <br />of the fences constructed or proposed to be constructed <br />in accordance with this By-law. <br /> <br /> <br />
