MUNICIPALITY OF COUNTY OF ESSEX BY-LAW'NUMBE~ 1610 AUTHORIZING SPEED LIMITS WItEREAS subsection 6a of section 59 of The Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1960, Chapter 172) authorizes the council of a ~ownshl~ or county by by-law to prescribe a lower or higher rate of speed for motor vehicles on a highway or portion of highway under its· jurisdiction that is not within a built-up area or suburban district than is prescribed in clause alof subsection i of section 59, but such rate of speed shall not be less than 35 miles per hour or more than 60 miles per hour; AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed limit for motor vehicles on certain highways'in the Municipality of County of Essex be either decreased or increased or both; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex enacts as follows: 0 20 ?~en any highway or portion of highway set out in Schedule A, appended hereto is marked in compliance with the regulations under The Highway Traffic Act the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be the rate of speed prescribed in the~'schedule. · The penalties provided in subsection 12 of section 59 of The Highway Traffic Act shall apply 'to offences against this by-law. This by-law shall not become effective un$il approved by ~he Departmen~ of Transport.
