A B~LA~ TO i~OVIDE FOH THE TOWNSHIP OF GOSFIELD SOUTH COLLECTING THEIH OWN ~ <br /> <br />OF TA~ES A~D TO HOLD TA~ SALE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, uhder the Assessment Act, being Chapter 24, R,S.O. 1950, Section 126, <br /> <br />The Treasurer of every Township and village shall, within fourteen da~s after the time <br /> <br />appointed for the return and final settlement of the Collector.s Roi1, and before the <br /> <br />8th day of AprLl in each year, furnish the 0ounty Treasurer with a statement of all <br /> <br />unpaid taxes and school rates directed in the said collector.s Roll or by school <br /> <br />Trustees to be collect.de <br /> <br /> A~D WHEREAS by Sec. 129, Sub-sec. 1, of the said Act, after the Collector.s Roll <br />has been returned to the Treasurer of a Township or village, and before such Treasurer <br /> <br />has furnisaed to the County Treasurer the statement mentioned in Sec. 126, arrears of <br /> <br />taxes ma~ be paid to such local Treasurer, but after the said statements has been re- <br /> <br />turned to the County Treasurer no more money on account of arrears due shall be re- <br /> <br />ceived by any officer of the Municipality to which the roll rebates. <br /> <br />AND ~NEEEAS under Sece-Sub. 2 of the said Section 129, the collection of arrears <br /> <br />shall thenceforth belong to the Treasurer of the County alone, b~ shall receive pa~- <br /> <br /> ment of such arrears. <br />Ah15WHEREAS under Section 196, in cities and tow~As arrears of taxes shall be col- <br />lected and mamaged in the same wa~ as in hereinbefore provided in the cae. of other <br /> <br />municipalities, and for such pirposes the municipal officers of the Cities and TOWNS <br /> <br /> shall perform the same duties and have the same powers as the like officers in other <br /> <br />'~rposes also perform the like duties as are hereinbefore in the case of offer <br /> MunicipalitiesTimposed on the County Treasurer and Warden respectively, and shall <br /> have ~ the like powers,[~nd words referring to the County Treasurer and warden <br /> <br />shall as to a Town or city be taken and deemed to refer to the Mayor and Treasurer of <br /> <br />such City and Towme <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS under Sub.-seCe 1, Sec. 197, all pe~ers conferred upon Cities and <br /> <br />Teens by Section 196 or amy of the sections referred to in that section, and all duties <br /> <br />i~posed by said section upon the officers of such cities and towns and the Mayor thereof <br /> <br />ma~ be vested in and apply to various TOwnships therein containede <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS by section 197, R.S.O. 1950, the 0ouncil of any 0ounty ma~ on the <br /> <br />application of the Council of any TOwnship or ¥illa~ in the COunty, by bylaw, declare <br /> <br />that Section 196 of the Assessment Act shall thereafter apply and extend to such <br /> <br />TOWnShips and villagesand thereupon the powers conferred in Oities and Townsby <br /> <br />Section 196 of the Assessment ACt or any of the sections referred to in that Section <br /> <br />and all the duties imposed by said sectic~s upon the officers of said Cities and Towns, <br /> <br />and the Mayors thereof, shall be vested in and apply to the corporation of such Townships <br /> <br /> <br />
